CIA delivering weapons, communications equipment to Syrian rebels

Weapons, sophisticated communications devices and vehicles are being delivered by the Central Intelligence Agency to the forces opposing Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, according to The Washington Post.
Two weeks ago the United States ended a months-long delay in sending weapons  to rebel forces in Syria, according to reports, delivering on a promise to arm opposition forces in the 2 1/2 year fight against al-Assad's regime. The CIA and State Department are sending shipments that included light weapons, vehicles, medical kits and communications equipment,  according to the story.
News of the shipment comes amid President Barack Obama's call for military action by the United States over a chemical attack by al-Assad's forces on a suburb of Damascus, Syria, the country's capital. According to the United States, more than 1,400 people were killed with sarin gas on Aug. 21, including 400 children.
According to the story, the aid was promised by the Obama administration months ago, but was delayed because of the difficulty in delivering equipment in a war zone and the question of to whom the equipment was being delivered -- rebels or jihadists.
